Hello!
The Soka Gakkai Magyarország Buddhista Egyesület (SGM), established in 2007 is a lay Buddhist organization in Hungary. SGM is part of the larger Soka Gakkai International (SGI) network, which comprises of more than 12 million people in 192 countries and territories around the world. SGI members base their practice on the Lotus Sutra and Nichiren Buddhism, which teaches that each individual inherently possess buddhahood, the source of unlimited wisdom, courage and compassion to surmount all of life's obstacles. Based on core Buddhist principles such as respecting the dignity of life and the interconnectedness of self and the environment, SGI engages in various peace activities, including human rights education, the movement to abolish nuclear weapons and efforts to promote sustainable development.
A Philosophy
FOR DAILY LIFE
The main focus of Soka Gakkai activities is group discussion meetings and gatherings of friends, with the aim of integrating Buddhism into our daily lives, as we practice and learn this philosophy of life in order to use it in every moment of our lives and pass it on to others.
Nichiren Daishonin's Buddhism is not a religion -- it does not prescribe or prohibit anything, it does not impose any requirements or conditions on its followers. Rather, Nichiren Daishonin's Buddhism is an approach to life, a way of life, a tool in our hands to take full responsibility over our own happiness and our lives.

Human life is made up of an incessant sequence of choices. Every second we make a choice and every choice has a result or consequence - even if we are not aware of it at that moment. Therefore, it is important to exercise wisdom in making decisions, and this can be achieved through the practice of daimoku (reciting "Nam-myoho-renge-kyo"), which enables us to tap into our inherent source of wisdom. Of course, this is not easy or advisable to believe without personal experience. Buddhist meetings are a way of sharing our personal experiences with each other and thus passing on this opportunity to all those we love, who are our good friends.
Our community is based on friendship and heart-to-heart relationships in which people, despite their differences, exist in perfect harmony and unity because of the shared underlying belief in the absolute respect and dignity of each person's life.
